As part of nationwide effort to raise awareness for the cyclone survivors and recommit ourselves to vigilance against oppression, we will be holding a one month cyclone anniversary rally coming Saturday ( June 7) . Let our voices be heard. Together, we can change the status quo in Burma . In order to accommodate another event on the same day, this rally will start at 4 p.m. We hope to see you there!
WHAT: One Month Anniversary of Cyclone Nargis
One month after the devastating cyclone hit Burma , the cyclone survivors are still without basic relief as Burma ’s military regime continues hindering the international community from providing basic relief such as food, water and medical supplies. The regime also illegally extended the house arrest of Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma ’s rightful and elected leader and sentenced U Gambiya to death for peacefully leading the "Saffron Revolution" last year. In light of the humanitarian crisis and gross human rights abuses going on in Burma , a rally is being held to continue to raise awareness and to show support for immediate humanitarian intervention.
